The Texel Museum Foundation (STM), consisting of Ecomare, Kaap Skil Museum, The Texel House of Antiquities and The Lighthouse finds it important to handle personal data with the utmost carefulness and confidentiality. Therefore, STM complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). STM is part of the Texel Museum Foundation, which is responsible for the processing of personal data.

Our website and/or service does not intend to collect data on website visitors who are under 16 years of age. Unless they have parental or guardian consent. However, we cannot verify whether a visitor is older than 16. We therefore advise parents to be involved in the online activities of their children, in order to prevent the collection of data about children without parental permission and/or supervision.

When visiting our website
When you visit our website, we receive personal data from your browser, regardless of whether you fill in a form and send it to us or not. The data we receive are only functional cookies, you can read more about this in our cookie statement. Should you choose to disable cookies then you might not be able to fully use our website.
With a purchase or order in our webshop
When making a purchase, you will be asked to provide specific personal data, including your name and address, email, and telephone number so we can contact you about delivery and deliver it to your home. When making a payment, we receive your IBAN number via the confirmation we receive from the payment system provider. We process this in our booking system and accounting system so we know whether the purchase has been paid or still has to be paid.

If you call or email us, we record your name and phone number so we can call you back. If you send us an email, we register the sender details and the content, including attachments and meta data. We use this to prevent spam and to be able to answer your questions or requests via the same channel.
When you become a donator or provide us with financial support
Of course, we really appreciate it when people become donators to our museums and animals. To register this, it is necessary to register your name and address, email, and bank details so we can process the one-off or continuous direct debit authorisation. In addition, we keep a history of all donators so we can inform you from time to time with a special digital newsletter. It also allows us to make special offers to donators or to put them in the limelight as a token of our appreciation.
When booking an excursion, event, or tour
When booking an excursion, event, or tour, it is necessary for us to have your contact details. For this purpose, we ask you for your name and address, email, and telephone number. This allows us to inform you about availability and planning. We can also ask additional questions about group supervision and send you information in preparation. We also use this information afterwards, for example to send you a survey about the event attended and to alert you to new events.

Where do we process the data?
We process the data in our own datacentre and partly in the Cloud. Agreements about the storage and/or exchange of data with countries outside the European Economic Space have been made with the Cloud supplier.
Use of third parties for processing
Sometimes it is necessary to forward your data to third parties in order to let our systems work correctly. Think for example of a payment transaction. We see to it that only strictly necessary data is exchanged and that the parties we use fort his meet the applicable legislation.
Camera surveillance
Cameras have been placed at the various locations of the Texel Museum Foundation to observe certain areas. The purpose of camera surveillance is to increase the safety of employees and visitors and to prevent crime. Camera surveillance is subject to the General Data Protection Act (GDPR) and other legal regulations. All locations of STM that apply camera surveillance comply with these regulations. The locations where camera surveillance is applied are provided with information stickers. Camera images are destroyed after 5 days and only reviewed after the detection of a criminal offence or other incident.
Complaints
If you think that we are handling your personal data incorrectly then you can file a complaint about this with functionarisgegevensbescherming@texelsmuseum.nl. In principle, complaints are attended to in writing (per email) within 14 days. You will receive a confirmation of receipt of each complaint that is filed.
