The moment the light turns on or off depends on the weather. It’s an automated process. Simply put, the light switches on around sunset and off at sunrise.
The lens system for the Texel lighthouse makes a circular motion so that every 10 seconds the light beams pass by twice. The illumination is 53.2 meters above sea level. The brightness is 2,850,000 candela. That allows the light to be visible as far away as 29 sea miles.

Via a winding staircase, you climb six stories of the lighthouse. There’s no elevator. For your safety on the staircase we strongly advise you to wear fastened shoes for climbing the lighthouse. So no flip-flops or slides. Unfortunately, pets must stay outside.
